Chiswick was paediatric registrar at St George's Hospital London and Southampton Children's Hospital before being appointed research associate for the Department of Child Health at St Mary's Hospital Manchester. Chiswick was later appointed consultant paediatrician for the North West Regional Perinatal Centre at St Mary's and honorary lecturer for the Department of Child Health at the University of Manchester. Chiswick was a member of the British Paediatric Association.
