Carrie was a long serving general practitioner in Hulme, Manchester. As a member of the BMA, Carrie was a member of the local executive committee, a representative in the Representative Body for many years, and a member of the Central Ethical Committee from 1944. He was later made a fellow of the BMA. Carrie was active on the Local Medical Committee from 1929 where he shared much of his experience and expertise. He was a member of Manchester Medical Society and was a founding member of the General Practice Section founded in 1951. He was also president of the Manchester Medico-Ethical Society. Carrie was also a foundation member of the College of General Practitioners. He died on 13 March 1961 aged 64.
