After studying at Cork, Beare held house positions at MRI and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Stanmore. He later became surgical registrar for Liverpool Royal Infirmary before being appointed thoracic surgical registrar at Park Hospital Davyhulme. Beare was a member of Manchester Medical Society .
