George Henry Darwin, [1852?]-1921.

Darwin studied at Owens College Manchester and qualified in 1880; he later took a MD from St Andrew's University. He was in general practice at West Didsbury, Manchester and was a physician to Manchester City Mission. Darwin was later an advisory medical officer to the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Co. Darwin was known for his promotion of ambulance work; he was a member of the central executive committee of the St. John's Ambulance, and he published several works on the subject. He was also actively involved in military medicine, and was a surgeon-major in the Volunteer Battalion of the Manchester Regiment.
