Davis studied at the University of Manchester, and held house and registrar posts at Christie, St Mary's Hospital Manchester and MRI. He later worked in London, and was consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at Tottenham and King's College Hospital. He was Hunterian Professor at the Royal College of Surgeons in 1934 and was a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
