Gardom was an apprentice at MRI from 1815 and was appointed house surgeon there in 1821, resigning this position in 1823. Gardom was a surgeon who lived in Brazenose Street Manchester before moving to Salford by 1825 where his reputation as a general practitioner grew. By 1836 Gardom was consulting surgeon to Salford and Pendleton Royal Hospital, a position he held until at least 1847. Gardom probably died in the mid 1870s.
