After studying at Manchester, Bentz was a captain in the RAMC. He held positions as district medical officer and public vaccinator in Manchester, AMO at Baguley Sanatorium, house positions at MRI and medical officer in charge of the New Bridge Street Hospital in Manchester. He died on 18 October 1923.
