Bergheimer was born in Germany on 20 October 1908. After studying medicine in Germany, she came to Manchester in 1933 to take the degree of MB ChB. Bergheimer held junior positions in Ancoats Hospital and the Royal Ear and Eye Hospital Bradford before working in general practice in Crewe, Cheshire and working as a part time medical officer at the Child Welfare Clinic in Manchester. She was a member of Manchester Medical Society and the Medical Women's Federation. Bergheimer died on 9 May 1987.
