Galasko was senior registrar at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre and Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, before being appointed director the orthopaedic unit of the Royal Postgraduate Medical School at Hammersmith Hospital. In 1976 Galasko was appointed professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Manchester and honorary consultant orthopaedic surgeon for Salford Health Authority at Hope Hospital. He held various honorary lectureships and was Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1971. Galasko was on the council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He gave the Hunterian Oration in 2003.
