Harold Kenneth Ashworth was the son of Joseph Harold Ashworth. He held house positions at MRI and Monsall Fever Hospital before being appointed clinical lecturer in Anaesthetics at University of Manchester and honorary anaesthetist at St Mary's Hospital Manchester. He was later senior anaesthetist at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, and consultant anaesthetist at Princess Louise Hospital for Children, Royal London Ophthalmic Hospital and Queen Mary's Hospital Roehampton. Ashworth was also a member of the Faculty of Medicine, at the University of London.
