Grindrod, of Oulder Hill, Rochdale, was educated at MRI and Royal Manchester School of Medicine. Grindrod was resident medical officer at Queen Charlotte's Lying-in Hospital, London, before returning to Rochdale as a general practitioner. Grindrod was medical officer of health for Norden, Rochdale.
