Fenn was an evangelist from early youth and, after qualifying at Edinburgh, superintended the work of the Red Bank Medical Mission in Manchester for seventeen years. While in Manchester, Fenn specialised in diseases of the ear, throat and chest. From 1895 until 1901, he was honorary assistant physician to Manchester Hospital for Diseases of the Throat and Chest and was also physician to the Sunnyside Home for advanced tuberculosis cases. In 1913 Fenn married and went to Peru where he conducted medical missionary work. After returning to England in 1915 and serving in the RAMC, Fenn settled in Sheffield and was appointed district tuberculosis officer in the Rotherham Area. Fenn died, aged 60, on 15 December 1929.
