Arthur Davies studied medicine at Owens College Manchester and qualified in 1895. He spent much of his career in general practice at Shaw, near Oldham, and was medical officer of health for Crompton. In 1924 he was elected Conservative MP for the Royton division of Lancashire. He retired from parliament in 1931. Davies was active in the St. John Ambulance movement.
