Davies gained his medical qualifications at Leeds University in 1940, and later gained an MD and FRCP. He held hospital appointments in Leeds, Bradford and Salford before being appointed consultant physician to Bury and Rossendale Hospitals. Davies was a member of Manchester Medical Society and Bury Medical Society.
