Thomas Falconer was the son of William Falconer MD (1744-1824), a physician at Chester Infirmary and later in Bath and a member of Manchester Literary and Philosophical Society. Thomas Falconer was born in Bath on 24 December 1771. He entered the Manchester Grammar School in 1783 and was later educated at Kay's School Chester and Corpus Christie College Oxford. He later probably took his MD and spent some time in Edinburgh. Falconer also took holy orders and died in Bath on 14 July 1841.
