After training at Manchester and Dublin, Ferguson held resident appointments at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, MRI, Ancoats Hospital Manchester and Crumpsall Infirmary Manchester. He was a captain in the RAMC from 1916 to 1919. Ferguson later was appointed honorary assistant physician for children at the Northern Hospital Manchester and worked in general practice in Rusholme. He died on 20 June 1942.
