Gregory held house positions at Stockport Infirmary before being appointed senior house surgeon at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. He spent some time as a general practitioner in Radcliffe, Lancashire, before returning to Stockport as senior hospital medical officer to the ophthalmic department at Stockport Infirmary. Gregory retired to Harrogate.
