Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetry of Şeyh Ömer Ruşeni (died 892 AH/1487 CE):. (I) ff 1v-42r : Miskinname, a mystical poem in which the doctrines are illustrated by anecdotes. In some other copies of the work, its title is given as Kitab-i Miskin or Miskinlik Kitabı;. (II) ff 42r-43v : Silsilah-i Mashāʾikh, a Persian poem on the Halveti Şeyhler;. (III) ff 43v-65v : Çobanname, an Ottoman Turkish paraphrase in verse of the story of Moses and the shepherd from the Mesnevi of Rumi. The preface of the work is written in Persian under the title of Ḥikāyah-i Mūsá bā Chūbān arranged in two columns as if it were a poem, and lacks the praise of Rumi found in other copies of this work. A chronogram gives the date of composition of the poem as 890 AH (1485-86 CE);. (IV) ff 66r-111r : İn risale'ist der beyan-i sıfat-i ney ve teşbih kerdaneş ba insan-i kamil ve zuhurat-i vey guyed, a tract in verse explaining the mystical significance of the reed flute (ney);. (V) ff 111r-115r : A short mystical mesnevi entitled Der beyan-i sıfat-i kalam;. (VI) ff 115r-164r : The Divan of Ruşeni, divided as follows: the longer poems (including terciibentler) beginning with a na't (ff 115r-128v); followed by gazeller (ff 128v-150v); and rubaiyat (ff 150v-164r). The text contains a single unvan. The manuscript is undated but was likely produced in the 17th century CE.
