Dimensions : 162 mm x 115 mm. Ruling : Red text-frames. Script : Nesih. Ink : Main text in black ink with text frames and headers in dark red ink.

Scope and Content

This volume contains a treatise on the mukantarat or circles attached to the quadrant and their use, in a mukaddime and 12 ebvap written by Mustafa İbn-i Ali el-Muvakkıt (died around 960 AH/1552-53 CE). There is a table giving the longitude and latitude of various locations (ff 117r-118v). The text contains various corrections and orthographic idiosyncrasies. There are various alchemical or astrological symbols on f 119r, and copious marginal notes throughout the text. This manuscript was likely copied during the 18th century CE.
