Scope and Content

This volume contains an Ottoman Turkish translation and commentary or paraphrase of the Fuṣūṣ al-ḥikam (فصوص الحكم)of Muḥyī al-Dīn Ibn ᶜarabī. The translator, Nev'i Yahya Maalkarevi, states on f 3r that he completed the work for Sultan Murad III. Maalkarevi's date of death is given (OM II, p. 437) as 1007 AH (1598-99 CE). The chronogram Ahir el-kalam at the end of the work gives the date of composition as 1002 AH (1593-94 CE). The work itself begins with a rubai. There is one folio of a medical tract bound in at the end of this copy. The author of the work has been wrongly described on the volume's spine as Da'i Efendi. This manuscript was likely copied in the 18th century CE.
