Scope and Content

This volume contains two Ottoman Turkish texts comprising the following items:. ff 1v-83v : Suretname, a number of letters, mainly from the münşeat of Feridun Bey, although those on ff 4r, 5r, 7r, 8r, and 13r are from a different source and were not written to Sultans;. ff 84v-182r : Veka'i-i Beç, a journal of the siege of Vienna in 1683 CE, apparently written by Ahmet, Teşrifati (Master of Ceremonies) to the Grand Vizier Kara Mustafa Paşa. The journal extends from 22 Muharrem to 24 Safer 1094-95 AH (21 January 1683 - 11 February 1684 CE).
