Scope and Content

This volume contains the following three texts, all of which are marked as surat or copy:. (I) ff 1v-3v : Devlet-i aliye Sırp Hukumeti beyninde akt olacak ticaret mukayide (?)namesi tercümesidir, the text of a trade agreement between the Ottoman court and the Serbian authorities, divided into 12 articles (bablar) on the terms of trade and the goods covered. Although the text is not dated, it does state in article 12 that it will be valid until the year 1904 CE. The text is signed by a number of witnesses and dignitaries from both sides;. (II) ff 5v-7r : An agreement between the Ottoman and Bulgarian authorities regarding the relative rights and interests of the two parties around Sofia and throughout Rumelia. The document is paper with the İdare-yi Sadrazami header and is dated 29 Mart 1219 / 13 Şevval (?) 1221 AH (23 January 1902 CE?);. (III) ff 7v-9v : Notes on the aforementioned commercial agreement between the Ottoman and Serbian governments, with extensive explanations on the conduct of negotiations and the the content and context of the 12 articles. The text is dated 19 Temmuz 1217 / 16 Rebiülevel 1219 (25 June 1804 CE). The copies are not dated but are in similar hands and therefore likely from the late 19th or early 20th centuries.
