Scope and Content

This volume contains the following two divans:. ff 1v-44r : Divan-i Şerif, the collected poetry of Mehmet Şerif Efendi, who became Şeyh ül-İslam and died in 1204 AH (1789-90 CE). The first part of the Divan consists of a münacat, followed by na't (some in the form of rubaiyat), a tahmis (f 3r), a kaside (f 3v), and chronograms (ff 4v-11v). After this come the gazeller (ff 12v-40r), followed by more tahmisat (ff 40r-42r), matali (ff 42r-43r), and elğaz (ff 43v-44r);. ff 45v-71r : Divan-i Fıtnat Hanım, the collected poetry of Fıtnat Hanım, who died in 1194 AH (1780 CE). It begins with a na't, followed by tahmis (ff 46r-47r), a bahariye (f 47r), other kasideler and chronograms (ff 47v-59v), and then gazeller (ff 59v-67v), which are interspersed to wards the end with other poems, including a tahmis on a gazel of Cevri and a müseddes. After this we have şarkılar, elğaz and muammayat (ff 67v-70v), Gazeliyat-i Nevakis (f 69r), müfredat (f 70v), a kıt'a, a poem with the caption Fıtnat-i müşarün ileyhinin asarından olarak sonradan ele geçen sebt kılındı and a mesnevi. The text contains 4 unvans. The manuscript was likely copied in the early 19th century CE.
