Scope and Content

This volume contains an Ottoman Turkish commentary on the Būstān (بستان) of Saᶜdī by Mustafa Şem'i (died 1000 AH/1591-92 CE). The Persian text is given throughout the whole work and each verse is provided with an Ottoman Turkish translation. The work has been wrongly labelled as a commentary on the Gulistān.. The manuscript was likely copied towards the end of the 16th century CE, but only ff 17-35 and ff 62-69 remain from the original copy. The missing portions were restored by Hüseyin İbn-i Ömer in 1146 AH (1733-34 CE).
