Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetical works of Esrar Dede, a Mevlevi poet whose full name was Mehmet Esrar Dede. His death appears to have taken place in 1211 AH (1796-97 CE) and he was the author of the tezkire of Mevlevi poets. The Divan opens with kasideler (ff 1v-25v), beginning with a na't. This is followed by gazeller (ff 25v-89v), mukattaat (ff 90r-91r), and chronograms (ff 91v-93v). There is a section separate from the Divan found on ff 94v-105r that is entited Divan-i rubaiyat-i Derviş-i Esrar-i Mevlevi. Another separate section, the Mesneviyat-i Esrar (ff 105v-116v) is divided into the following titled works: Mübarekname (ff 107v-111r); Fütuvvetname (ff 111r-115v); and various mesnevi poems without a title, including one called simply Hikayet-i manzume. . The text contains three unvans. The manuscript was likely copied in the 18th century CE.
