Scope and Content

This volume contains the poetical works in both Ottoman Turkish and Persian of Fasih Ahmet Dede (died 1111 AH / 1699-17000 CE), who belonged to the Mevlevi Tarikat. The initial section of the volume is in Ottoman Turkish and contains the following components:. (I) ff 2v-10v : Kasideler followed by a na't;. (II) ff 11v-59r : Gazeller with a portion at the end in ya in Chagatai entitled Bi-zaban-i Navayi;. (III) ff 59v-69v : Kıt'alar (ff 59v-60r), rubaiyat (ff 60r-69r); and chronograms (ff 69r-v). The second section of the work is in Persian and begins with a na't and other poems in mesnevi form (ff 70v-73v), followed by gazeller (ff 74v-77v), kıt'alar (ff 77v-79r), and matali (ff 79v-80v). The last work in this copy is entitled Dibaçe-yi tercüme-yi münazara-yi Gül-i ra'na ve Mül-i hamra (ff 84r-107v). This is an Ottoman Turkish translation in prose of an unidentified Persian original in verse made for Ahmet Paşa (f 84v) by Fasih. The preface to the text (ff 81v-83v) is in verse. The manuscript was likely copied in the 18th century.
