This volume contains the following texts :. ff 1v-52v : A contemporary history of the reign of İslâm Geray Han İbn-i Selâmet Geray, Han of Crimea, from his accession to the throne in 1054 AH (1644-45 CE) until 1060 AH (1650-51 CE). The work was composed by el-Hacc Mehmet. The author describes himself as an ancient servant of the house of Genghis Khan, late Münşi of the Divan, and now in possession of a Kadılık of 150 aspers. He composed the present history by desire of the Vezir Sefer Ğazı Ağa. The narrative pays close attention to dates. The author inserts, from time to time, Persian verses of his own composition, and in a versified chronogram on f 5v, he takes the mahlas Senai. The narrative begins on f 3r, with the landing of İslâm Geray at Kafa on the first of Cemaziulevel 1054 AH (4 July 1644 CE) and his installation on the throne of Genghis at Bakhchysaray on the fifth of the same month. The next chapter records the raising of Qırım Geray Sultan to the dignity of Kalka or Viceroy. The main portion of the work deals with the wars carried on by the Han with Polish and Muscovite forces. The last chapter relates to an incursion of the Kalka Qırım Geray into Moldova. He laid siege to Iaşi, exorted a heavy tribute from the Voyvode Upul [Lupul], and returned home, loaded with spoils, in the month of Şaaban 1060 AH (August 1650 CE). The present copy was completed on 13 Şaaban 1061 AH (1 August 1651 CE), meaning that it was composed and copied during the life of İslâm Geray, who died in 1064 AH (1653-54 CE). In the colophon, the copyist, Mustafa İbn-i Ömer, surname Kara Yazıcı, of Crimea, says that he had transcribed the history for Ahmed Geray Sultan İbn-i Mehmed Geray Han İbn-i Selâmet Geray Han İbn-i Devlet Geray Han (Mehmed Geray Han IV was deposed 1076 AH (1665 CE). His son, Ahmed Geray, never ascended to the throne). The colophon (?) was completed on 17 Şaaban 1092 AH (1 September 1681 CE) in a place, Alma, described as: في الماء الجارى المعروف المشهور الما في قريب خان ايلى؛. ff 58v-165r : A historical compendium relating chiefly to the Ottoman Sultans, without an author's name. The work is transcribed, with some omissions and minor alterations, from the history of Kuçuk Nişancı. The account of Süleyman's reign is brought down, in the first instance, to 973 AH (1566 CE), ''the present year'' (f 138v), and conludes with a record of the Sultan's departure, on Monday 9 Şeval, from Istanbul for the siege of Sziget. A subsequent continuation brings the history down to 991 AH (1583 CE). The latest events chronicled are the setting out of Ferhat Paşa for the Persian campaign in Rebiülevel, and the victory gained by Osman Paşa over Imām Qulī Khān, governor of Ganja, in Rebiülahir of the same year. The contents of the text are: Patriarchs and prophets (f 59r); Muhammad صلعم and his Ashab (f 71r); the Ottoman dynasty, from its origins to 973 AH (1566 CE) (f 76r); continuation to 991 AH (1585 CE) (f 139r); early kings of Persia and Roman emperors (f 155r). The manuscript was copied in the same hand as the first text and completed in 1092 AH (1681-82 CE);. ff 165v-167r : Charms against nightmares;. ff 170v-237v : Fusul-i hall u akit usul-i harç u nakit, a sketch of the rise and fall of dynasties in West Asia compiled by Ali. This copy was completed in Rebiülahir 1027 AH (April 1618 CE);. ff 239v-241v : Kitab-i tarih İstanbul, a short and early recension of the fabulous history of Istanbul, concluding with a record of its conquest by Mehmet II, who is mentioned as the reigning Sultan. This copy is dated 15 Cemaziulahir 936 AH (14 February 1530 CE);. ff 242r-282r : Detached fragments of an Ottoman Turkish chronicle which, as appears for a comparison with Add MS 5969, is that of Cemali. They are as follows: 804-846 AH (ff 242-251), corresponding to Add MS 5969, ff 22v-33r; A part of the legendary history of Istanbul (ff 252-273, 277), corresponding to Add MS 5969, ff 41v-60v; the conquest of Istanbul (f 278), corresponding to Add MS 5969, f 62v; and 894-96 AH (ff 279-281), corresponding to Add MS 5969, ff 70v-71v. This copy is dated Recep 950 AH (October 1543 CE).
