This volume contains an anonymously authored narrative account (dasitan) of the martyrdom of Imam Hüseyin, son of Ali and grandson of the Prophet, in 61 AH/680 CE. The text would have been recited annually on the anniversary of his death on the tenth of Muharrem. The text opens with an exordium in praise of God and two naatlar in prose praising the Prophet Muhammad. The sources of this version of the Maktel are mentioned on f 3r, in the passage transcribed below. The text comprises numerous episodes, each of which begins with the heading 'hikaye'. Passages of verse are interspersed throughout the text. There are frequent errors of orthography. The work ends on 124r, with an additional section between 124v-128v on the death of Fatima (vefat-ı Fatıma) in the same hand and almost entirely in verse. The present copy differs from a similar copy in Turkey's National Library (Milli Kütüphane, 6 Mil Yz A 7944) in that it contains examples of archaic language, and also has spellings which might have facilitated easier pronunciation for storytellers. Begins:. Besmele, Evvel Allah adını zikir edelim * kudratından sun'ını fikir ile edelim / evvel ahir Padişah-i la yezal * Oldur […] oldur bi-zeval / Evvel Ahir-i Kerim Kar-i saz (sic) / Zahir-i batındır ol be-niyaz. Narrative begins (3r):. Raviyan-i ahbar ve nakilan-i esrar Ebu Bekir Varaḳ (sic) ve Said-i Şami ve Hüssam-ı İsfahani ve Şureyh Bağdadi ve Ebu Tâhir-i Musa raziyallah 'anhum ecma'in şöyle rivayet ederler: Ol vaktinkim ol Sadr-i suffa-i safa ol Mah-i kubbe-i vefa…. Final verse begins (124r):. Bunu yazdım yadigâr olmağa için * yazana gören dua kılmak için / Tengri rahmet eyleye ol kişiye * dua kıla bunu yazan kişiye / Hak Teâlâ rahmet kilsin ona * kim yazanı Fatiha birle ona ….
