Scope and Content

This volume contains the poetry of Mevlevi poet Ali Dede, who went by the mahlas Danişi (died 1095 AH/1684-85 CE). Although a chronograph giving the date 1047 AH (1637-38 CE) appears on f 1v, it is likely that this refers to another poet, Ahmet Danişi, who died in 1060 AH (1650 CE). The verses attributed to Ali Dede in edited and translated volumes do appears in this volume. The Divan opens with two rubaiyat followed by kasideler (ff 3v-52v), preceded by a mesnevi entitled Der vasf-i Besmele-i şerife. The gazeller occupy ff 52v-117v. The folios between 115 and 117 appear to have lost their upper halves, which have been replaced by the torn upper halves of folios that do not match the original text. The correct order is that 115v should come last, then f 116r should be in the place of f 115v and f 117 should replace f 115r. The last folios of the text are missing from this copy. The manuscript was likely copied in the 17th or 18th centuries CE.
