This volume contains two texts, both of them vocabularies :. ff 1v-156v : Lugat-ı Halimi, A Persian dictionary explained in Ottoman Turkish by Lutfullah İbn-i Abi Yusuf el-Halimi. Kinalizade, who includes el-Halimi in his Tezkire (see Or. 35, f 104v), considers the author to be more a critic of poetry than an actual poet. He states that he was one of the Kadılar of the time of Mehmet II and that he enjoyed the patronage of Mahmud Paşa (Grand Vizier 857-872 AH (1453-1468 CE) and again 877-878 AH (1472-1474 CE)). He composed a work known as Mecrü'l-garayip, known better now as Lugat-ı Halimi, in two dafatir, the first of which is a Persian dictionary, while the second treats the topics of prosody, rhyme and poetical ornaments. He was deeply versed in the law of inheritance, on which he wrote a textbook and a commentary. Halimi survived Mehmet II and died in the reign of Bayezit II. In a short Persian preface, the author of this text says that he had previously composed an exhaustive work for the fixation of the ''elegant language'', and had enriched it with various rules and subtle observations. It had become known under the name of Bahru'l-garayip, and had been eagerly sought after. But readers were perplexed by its difficulties and that the author, taking pity on their distress, wrote the present work for its elucidation. The first Defter is a glossary of the poetical language arranged in the usual alphabetical order, and illustrated by copious quotations from the classical Persian poets. Only this defter is found in the current volume. This particular copy was produced by Ali İbn-i Yunes;. ff 157v-185v : A tabulated Persian-Ottoman Turkish vocabulary without title or attribution. The words are arranged, according to the initial letters in fusul, and each fasl is subdivided into three sections according to the vowel which accompanies the first letter. The Turkic renderings are written in a small slanting character under the lines. The vocabulary breaks off a the letter shin. The entire manuscript is dated Recep 982 AH (October-November 1574 CE).
