This volume contains the story of Yusuf, based on Surah XII, Sūrat al-Yūsuf (سورة اليوسف), enlarged with homilies, anecdotes in ornate prose, and verses. The author is Hacı Ali el-Mostari, who tells us (f 336v) that he was released from captivity in Malta by the Beylerbeyi of Trablus-i garp (Tripoli, Libya). On his arrival there, he had enough leisure time living under the Beylerbeyi to write this book. On f 3v, the author mentions that since the sources were mainly in Persian, he decided to turn them into Ottoman Turkish so that all could derive profit from them. This manuscript is an autograph and was completed in 1006 AH (1597-98 CE).
