Scope and Content

An Ottoman Turkish almanac comprising 12 pages of tables of predictions by each day of each month of the year. The manuscript starts with an overview of the year and its correlation to the zodiac (f. 2r), followed by monthly predictions. The monthly predictions are accompanied by advice purported to be from Greek sources. Occasional phrases in Arabic. The manuscript contains marginalia on ff. 2r-v, 6r-v and 7v in faded black ink in a hand different from that of the main copyist. The manuscript is undated, but likely to be from the (late?) 18th or 19th centuries, based on the handwriting and the dates included in the opening description.
