Scope and Content

This volume contains two works :. ff 1v-50v : Divan-i Haşmet Efendi, comprising the poetic works of Haşmet Efendi (died 1182 AH/1768-69 CE), without the preface of the editor, İmamzade. It opens with a kaside and continues with kasideler, muhammesat and other poems until f 46v, when the first gazel appears;. ff 51v - 88r : Münşeat-i Kani Efendi, a compilation of the letters of Ebu Bekr Kani (died 1208 AH/1793-94 CE). This collection of letters, which is generally of a lighter and more personal quality than those found in other copies (particularly Or 7140 and Or 12043) begins with a prose preface in which the compiler states that Kani surpasses Nabi as a stylist just as the latter excels Veysi. The name Habeşizade appearing in a poem on f 52v may be the compiler of this collection of letters. The codex was likely produced in the 18th or 19th century CE.
