Scope and Content

This volume contains a mesnevi on the birth of the Prophet Muhammad صلعم written in imitation of the more celebrated work by Süleyman Çelebi. On the first folio, this version has been ascribed to Şeyh Şemseddin Ahmet İbn-i Mehmet el-Sivasi and this identification is substantiated by the date of composition (988 AH/1580-81 CE) and a statement that the poem was composed at Sıvas (ff 47r-48r). On f 48v there are two short prayers in a different hand. The text contains a single unvan. This manuscript is not dated but was likely copied in the 17th century CE.
