Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetry of Ḥasan Ḥusnī ibn Ḥusayn ᶜārif al-Ṭuwayrānī (died 1315 AH/1897 CE), which includes some poetry in Ottoman Turkish at the beginning of the work. The Ottoman Turkish verses also appear on ff 8r, 10r, 11r, 12r, 13r, 14r-v, 16r-v, 17r, 18r, 36r, 37r, 38r, 39r, 44v, 45v, 47v, and 48v. There are Arabic notes on the Aḥādīth, law and other subjects, and the beginning of an unfinished treatise on various widely divergent topics under the heading ofal-Ẓabī al-sharūd (الظبي الشرود) (ff 40v-42r). This manuscript is an autograph, presumably a müsvedde (draft) giving the dates 1294 AH (1877-78 CE) and 1304 AH (1886-87 CE). Some of the smaller folios included in the volume appear to be of an earlier date.
