Scope and Content

This volume contains a collection of traditions and anecdotes relating to the Prophet Muhammad صلعم and his family, collected and explained in Ottoman Turkish by Seyit Seyfullah İbn-i Seyit Nizamuddin (f 2r). The name of this author, whose mahlas was Seyfi, is occasionally given as Seyfullah Kasım Efendi and the date of his death as 1010 AH (1601-02 CE). Some words in the text have been given with marginal glosses and there are verses here and there, some of which were penned by the author. On f 31r, there is a vakıf notice dated 1280 AH (1863-64 CE). This manuscript is undated, but was evidently copied in the first half of the 19th century CE.
