Scope and Content

This volume contains the poetical works of Naili (Yenizade Mustafa Efendi), native of Istanbul, who died in 1077 AH (1666-67 CE) and was occasionally known as Naili-yi Kadim. He was the Secretary of the Divan. The Divan is arranged in a manner that is substantially different from the order and composition of Add MS 7930 text 1. Most of the laudatory poems are missing, although the poem in praise of the Prophet Muhammad صلعم is found (f 5r). The gazeller begin on f 12v with the tenth gazel of Add MS 7930 text 1 (f 43r). The margins of the text contain additional poems. The first is a kaside in praise of Sun'izade Mehmet Efendi (Mufti 1072-73 AH/1661-63 CE), which is found in Add 7930 on f 35r. The manuscript was likely copied in the 17th century CE.
