Scope and Content

This volume contains the collected poetry of Hamid, the mahlas of the poet known as Mehmet Hamit Bey. The author is reputed to have been born in 1150 AH (1737-38 CE), entered the Enderün-i Hümayun in 1172 AH (1758-59 CE), and died in 1192 AH (1778-79 CE). The Divan opens with gazeller, which end on f 35r and are followed by a Na't-i şerif (f 35v), a tahmis on a poem by Rumi of Baghdad (f 35v), an isolated kaside of which the title is almost obliterated (f 36r), mukattaat (f 37r), and müfredat (f 38v). The manuscript was likely copied in the 19th century CE.
