William Charles Henry was the son of William Henry. As a youth he studied with John Dalton, before going to Edinburgh University, where he received his MD in 1827 for a thesis on tuberculosis. He was honorary physician at MRI from 1828-1835. Like his father an d grandfather his main interest was chemistry, and after his resignation from MRI he spent most of his time engaged in chemical research. In 1854 he produced a life of John Dalton, his former teacher.
