Libman trained in medicine at Liverpoool where he was awarded a number of prizes and medals. He held junior appointments at Liverpool Royal Infirmary and Liverpool University. He then came to Manchester where he had consulting rooms in St John Street and was assistant physician to Manchester Victoria Memorial Jewish Hospital. He was a member of MMS. In 1941, Libman, living in Broughton, was fined for a breach of lighting regulations during the black-out.
