Samuel Oleesky graduated in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1944. From 1942-44 he was a Rockefeller scholar at Washington University, St Louis. He received an honorary MD from Washington University St Louis in 1949.Among his appointments held was senior registrar to the medical professorial unit, MRI, lecturer in therapeutics at Sheffield University, consultant surgeon at Crumpsall and Ancoats Hospitals 1953-1964, and from 1965 until his retirement consultant physician at MRI. Oleesky's areas on interest included renal medicine, hypertension and diabetes. He was president of the Manchester Medical Society in 1979.
