Hall received his L.S.A in 1839 and the M.R.C.S. in 1845. He was in general practice in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, having formerly been a R.M.O at MRI and an assistant demonstrator in anatomy at Manchester Royal School of Medicine. He later worked at the Hospital for Consumption, Torquay and was the president of the B.M.A. in 1860. Hall was a prolific author, producing papers on rabies, mesmerism, the physiology of the muscles of the orbit, influenza the structure of the iris and the ganglionic system of nerves.
