The son of John Medd, senior, William Henry Medd was educated at Manchester and King's College. He was in practice with his father in Stockport. Medd was house surgeon, senior assistant surgeon and later visiting surgeon to Stockport Infirmary. He was a fellow of the Anthropological Societies of London and Manchester.
