John Orr was educated at Trinity College Dublin. A former surgeon at the City of Dublin Hospital, he practised in Manchester in the 1850s and lectured in surgery at Manchester Royal School of Medicine. He later lived in Fleetwood, Lancs, and is believed to have died in 1890.
