Milner, the son of Ralph Milner (see below), was named after his father's partner, Edmund Taylor (see MMC/2/TaylorEO). He was educated at Oxford, Owens College Manchester and St Bartholomew's. He was house surgeon and resident surgical officer to MRI and resident medical officer to the Convalescent Hospital in Cheadle. In 1891 Milner joined Salford Royal Hospital as honorary assistant surgeon and in 1898 was made surgeon. He retired due to ill health in 1911 and was appointed honorary consulting surgeon. Milner was also visiting surgeon to Salford Union Infirmary. He was a member of MMS and Manchester Pathological and Clinical Societies. Milner died on 12 June 1915, aged 56. His son Silvanus Mottram Milner was also a doctor (see below).
