Godfrey Heathcote was the son of Ralph Heathcote (1795-1863) and brother to Robert, Ralph and Rowland Heathcote, all of whom were medical practitioners. He was educated at Manchester Royal School of Medicine, qualifying in 1855, and had his practice in Great Ancoats St., Manchester.
