Lendon was born in India in 1932 and gained her medical qualifications form the Welsh National School of Medicine in 1958. She held various hospital appointments, specialising in paediatric pathology from 1965. Lendon came to Manchester in 1971 as senior registrar in the University of Manchester department of pathology and from 1977 was senior lecturer in paediatric pathology and honorary consultant at Salford Health Authority and North Manchester Hospital Authority. Lendon was honorary secretary of the Paediatric Pathology Society from 1983 to 1987.
