Joseph Jones studied medicine at Owens College, and graduated from Victoria University in 1894. He worked as a GP in Leigh, Lancs. and was a honorary surgeon at Leigh Infirmary. He received his MD from the University of Manchester in 1906 with a thesis on obstetrics. He was chairman of the Leigh Division of the BMA in 1938-9.
