After gaining his medical education and holding junior appointments in London and Manchester, Pearons was appointed research fellow in the department of bacteriology at the University of Manchester in 1972, and in 1976 became lecturer. Pearons spent two years in America, returning to Manchester as lecturer in medicine, and form 1981 as senior lecturer. Pearson was honorary consulting physician, with special interest in clinical immunology, to South the University of Manchester Hospitals.
