Lloyd was house apothecary at MRI from 1828 to 1834 when he resigned after a period of ill health. By the 1840s Lloyd was practicing in Birmingham where he was honorary surgeon to Birmingham General Dispensary and later secretary and apothecary to Birmingham and Midlands Eye Institution.
